When Tom Brook offers a lift to a man walking absently along a darkening country road, he has no idea who he's let into his car. What he does know is that he's made a mistake, evident in the immediate fear he feels in the man's presence. Before long, Tom is offered a dark bargain by the stranger: a simple audition to wipe out his debts and begin a new life under a new identity. The identity: Solomon Stone.
